The Ecology of Human Transformation: Social Fields & How We Organise Them

June 8 @ 3:00 pm - 4:15 pm BST

How do we organise meaningfully in times of fragmentation, uncertainty, and accelerating change? Many of us working for positive change find ourselves caught in tensions, trying to build communities rooted in care while navigating exhaustion, conflicting needs, hidden power dynamics, institutional pressures, limited capacity, differing visions, and the sheer complexity of collective life. Meaningful initiatives can struggle to sustain trust, coherence, and shared purpose over time – even when people are deeply committed and guided by sincere values.

Why?

Perhaps because no project, organisation, or movement exists outside the social conditions shaping it. Every collective effort is embedded within wider ecologies:

  • histories of power,
  • cultural assumptions,
  • economic pressures,
  • patterns of communication,
  • ways of relating,
  • and often invisible norms about who speaks, who leads, what feels safe to say, and what becomes difficult to acknowledge.

In this session, we will explore collective organising, grounding explorations in our own experiences. Together, we will reflect on the realities we encounter in our projects, organisations, and communities – and we will also turn attention toward Nurturing the Fields of Change itself. We will explore:

  • What conditions help trust, participation, and collective intelligence grow?
  • What tensions emerge as communities evolve?
  • What becomes difficult to name, organise, or sustain over time?
  • What forms of practice, structure, and accountability might support more grounded and durable ways of working together?

Join us to explore what kinds of human ecologies are needed if we are serious about cultivating more regenerative futures together.
